We wanted to find out more about David McAlister, so we have asked for an interview with the Best of British Male Voice over Artist.
David McAlister, best of british voice over said:
I started in “the business” at the tender age of 12 playing Freidrich von Trapp in the first West End production of the THE SOUND OF MUSIC at The Palace Theatre, then went on to play in A MONTH IN THE COUNTRY at The Cambridge Theatre with Michael Redgrave and Ingrid Bergman.”
How did David McAlister start his voice over career?
“It was 2 years at the BBC Radio Drama Company at Broadcasting House London trained me for creating characters for voice overs, computer games and audio books. (laughs) I remember two interesting jobs at the BBC ….. trying to play a 14 year old when I was 34 in the Radio adaptation of Rattigan’s BEQUEST TO THE NATION, and making love to Beryl Reid across a mono microphone when she was 76. I was still 34!! And the sound effects man made a lot of sheet rustlings whilst we gasped and groaned (more laughter). I also was lucky enough to play various characters for the original production of THE LORD OF THE RINGS when it was adapted for Radio.”
David McAlister decided to open his own recording studio…
“So it became a natural progression to starting my own voiceover studio (recently Dame Judi Dench came to record some of her voiceovers for VODAFONE with me). At the moment my voice is being used in commercial campaigns running in Chicago, Dubai, Netherlands and Germany, as well as many websites.”
